Episode 18 - Pride Allies

In this special Pride Month episode, we dive deep into what it truly means to be an ally for the LGBTQ+ community. As a queer-representing family, we share our personal stories and experiences, highlighting the importance of allyship and how it impacts the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals.
We begin by defining allyship and exploring the various forms it can take, from active to passive. We discuss the crucial role allies play in supporting and advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, using their privilege to amplify marginalized voices, and committing to continuous learning and unlearning.
Our conversation then turns practical as we outline concrete ways to be a good ally. From educating oneself about LGBTQ+ issues and history, listening and learning from LGBTQ+ voices, to speaking up against discrimination and showing up at Pride events, we provide actionable steps for listeners to take.

We kick things off with a heartwarming introduction featuring our two daughters, Bo and Edee, as they share their favorite parts, songs, and what they've learned from the movie. Their innocent insights set the stage for our exploration of how the film teaches us that we are all "stars", guided by the galaxies above. 
Next, we dive into the theories behind why "Wish" faced critical challenges, despite its undeniable charm, (and Disney's 100th Anniversary film). Was it design choices, storytelling decisions, or something else entirely? We share our personal opinions on these aspects and express our deep love for the film, highlighting its strengths and unique qualities.
As we break down the movie song by song, we uncover the rich layers and themes embedded in each musical number. This first part of our analysis takes us through the first half of the film, leaving no stone unturned as we celebrate the creativity and emotional depth of "Wish."
